The Counselor is In

Meet Aubrey Devore, the Owner of Aubrey Devore Counseling in Olathe, KS. She's a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT.). We believe she exemplifies what it means to be a woman on a mission in business.

I had the pleasure of working with Aubrey to redesign her website. She also wanted to increase her website's visibility and reach. More on that later in this article.

Read on as Aubrey shares her insights into the challenges and triumphs of running her own practice, while also emphasizing the importance of self-care in a demanding profession.

The Essence of Empathy

Aubrey's journey is rooted in her innate empathy which resonates in her own words, "I shine because I am an Empath, so healing others comes naturally for me". This quality has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in her success as a counselor. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most profound impact comes from those who genuinely understand and connect with the emotions of others.

Accomplishments & Accolades

One of Aubrey's most notable accomplishments is the work that went into establishing her private practice. In a field where building trust is paramount, Aubrey's commitment to creating a safe and supportive space for her clients has set her apart. Additionally, she has earned her clinical license and registered play therapist status, showcasing her dedication to professional growth and development.

Meeting Challenges with Heart

Despite the fulfilling nature of her practice, Aubrey expressed the challenges inherent in this line of work, "Counseling others can be a heartbreaking job that often leaves me emotionally drained". This vulnerability and honesty about the emotional toll of her profession highlights the strength that is often required and the personal impact it can have.

Advocating Your Own Self-Care

In the face of these challenges, Aubrey is an unapologetic advocate for self-care. In her own wise words, "You can't pour from an empty cup". Recognizing the importance of preserving her own well-being, Aubrey has made a daily ritual of running or walking outside. These intentional acts of self-care not only replenish her emotional reserves but also serve as a testament to the power of prioritizing one's mental and physical health.

Advice to Other Female Entrepreneurs

Aubrey's journey extends beyond her role as a therapist; she has also built and established a successful counseling practice that serves families in her community. Her advice to other women running their own business is simple yet profound: "Go for it. Dream big. The biggest factor in being successful is believing in yourself!" Aubrey's emphasis on the importance of self-confidence and resilience are qualities that have undoubtedly fueled her own success.

Aubrey's Website Transformation

Aubrey's website has undergone a transformative redesign. After consulting with her, we determined a "website redesign mini" was the perfect fit for her timeline and budget, and that doing some detailed SEO work was necessary to increase the visibility of her services to her client-base.

We created a design aesthetic with imagery, fonts and an earthy color palette that radiates warmth and professionalism. With an emphasis on user-friendly navigation, highlighting her services with well-place copy and creating a layout that flows, her new website serves as an online extension of her unique counseling approach.
