Meet talented Author and Educator, Nicole Bird.
A writer with a deep love for language, a teacher shaping the next generation of storytellers, and a woman on a mission to bring honesty, reflection, and creativity into the world. Nicole has built a life around words, and it shows in everything she does.
Nicole reached out to me when she realized her website no longer reflected the caliber of her work or the direction her career was heading. Like many of my clients, her existing site had served its purpose but needed a complete overhaul. She was looking for something simple yet impactful as she prepared for the publication of her latest book. I designed a website that feels intentional, professional, and true to her voice as a writer and educator which I'll share a bit further down in this article. But first, let's learn more about Nicole's journey and advice she has for other women in the writing business.
Nicole first launched her business during a personal creative awakening. While working in the film industry, she began writing poetry, first in fragments, then more seriously. What started as a quiet exploration of her voice grew into a fully realized writing career. Her business is not separate from who she is. It is the heart of her day-to-day life, combining teaching, writing, and living creatively.
Today, she is a published author and poet with a poetry chapbook that was just recently published and is now available to purchase via her website.
What she loves most about writing is the way it feels like breathing. Nicole has been writing since childhood, collecting journals and pens like treasures. Now, as a Creative Writing professor in Orlando, Florida, writing is a constant part of her world. She writes nearly every day, teaches with passion, and helps others uncover their own voices. Even on the difficult days, when rejections come or feedback is hard to hear, she finds beauty in the entire journey. In her words, "The peaks and the valleys, there is beauty to be found in all of it."
Still, the creative journey comes with challenges. Nicole shares that self-doubt has been her biggest struggle. Even with her accomplishments, there are moments when she questions if her work is good enough. But that reflection, she explains, is part of the process. Writing is an act of honesty, and it often requires us to confront our inner critics. Her biggest breakthrough has been learning to write through the doubt.
Her advice to other women writers is simple and powerful. "The only failure is if you stop writing." Rejections, revisions, and difficult drafts are part of the process. None of it means you’ve failed. The only real loss is walking away from the page. To keep going, you just have to write.
When Nicole isn't writing or teaching, you can find her reading, walking her two dogs, or getting lost in a good TV series. (She’s currently watching The Way Home and loving it.) Long walks help her sort through ideas when a story or poem needs direction.
