Meet Tarrie Miller, the Owner of Vintage Gardens Rustic Events, a one-of-a-kind wedding venue and event space cultivated with love on her family's farm in Ridgefield, Washington.

We had the pleasure of working with Tarrie to create a custom website that captures the warmth, charm, and beauty she has poured into every corner of her property. Her story is a testament to what vision, determination, and a deep connection to community can create.

The Vision Behind Vintage Gardens Rustic Events

Tarrie's motivation for starting her business was rooted in something deeply personal: a desire to create the kind of joy-filled, memory-making space she grew up around.

"I wanted to create a community-based business that would give people happiness, where families could come together to create fun and happy lifetime memories, just like my parents did with their business."

And it wasn't just about community. It was also a way to expand the things that bring her joy in her own life.

"I wanted to create a business that would give me joy in its day-to-day creation and since I love gardening, recycling old items, building new creative things and turning flowers into a peaceful garden, building a wedding venue on our family farm was the perfect business for me."

From Horse Pasture to Garden Paradise

Perhaps the most remarkable part of Tarrie's story is where it began. Ten years ago, Vintage Gardens Rustic Events was nothing more than a two-acre horse pasture. Season by season, with her own hands and a whole lot of heart, Tarrie transformed it into something extraordinary.

"Now after hundreds of hours of laboring in love, I get to enjoy seeing so many happy smiles, laughs and tears of joy from celebrating families because I've built a business that serves the community and I get to thrive off of their happiness."

That is the kind of accomplishment that goes far beyond business metrics. It is a legacy being built in real time.

What She Loves Most About Her Business

When asked what she loves most about running Vintage Gardens Rustic Events, her answer tells you about the heart behind her business.

"Meeting some amazing couples and families — seeing the love they all have for each other and watching them turn my venue into a personalized reflection of their creativity."

She also enjoys the benefits of the celebrations taking place, and will occasionally sneak onto her porch in the dark to dance to the DJ music drifting over from the reception tent. That spirit, warm, authentic, and full of life, is exactly what makes her venue so special.

The Challenges Along the Way

Building a business from scratch, with no capital and on raw land, required Tarrie to get creative in every sense of the word.

"I had no money saved to create this business, only a vision and determination, so I had to be very clever in repurposing so many materials to build the business."

Navigating county permitting was also a significant hurdle, one she met with the same tenacity that defines everything she does. Tarrie's resourcefulness is a masterclass in building something meaningful without waiting for perfect conditions.

Advice for Women Starting Their Own Business

Tarrie's advice is as grounded and genuine as she is:

"Don't be afraid to try and keep trying if necessary. It can be one of the most frustrating yet rewarding things you'll ever do. You'll learn a lot about yourself during the process, whether it thrives or struggles, you'll be better for the leap of faith that you took. We should always try to reach for our dreams."

For any woman standing at the edge of a big decision, those words are worth sitting with.

Life Outside the Venue

When she is not tending to her gardens or hosting celebrations, Tarrie is deeply rooted in family, including a new granddaughter who is giving her a fresh lens on life's most beautiful moments. You'll likely find her on the water wakeboarding or paddleboarding, out on a trail, or somewhere in nature doing what she loves most.
